Highlights
I am submitting a manuscript for consideration of publication in Ceramics International. The manuscript is entitled “The effects of Mg2Si ceramic particles morphology on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al–15%Mg2Si in-situ composite fabricated by combined ultrasonic stir casting, SIMA process and modified by Al-5Ti-1B refiner; A comparative study”.
It has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere.
In the present work, the effect of ultrasonic treatment, SIMA process and Al-5Ti-1B master alloy on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al–15%Mg2Si in-situ composite was studied. The morphology of the eutectic Mg2Si phase transformed from the coarse Chinese script shape to globular shape in Al–Mg2Si in-situ composites during the SIMA process. Ultrasonic treatment, SIMA process and Al-5Ti-1B master alloy achieves uniform distribution of Mg2Si phase in the in-situ composites. After applying the SIMA process, Al-5Ti-1B master alloy and ultrasonic treatment, the strength and engagement have increased. This means that tensile strength increases from 251 MPa to 303 MPa and elongation percentage improves from 2.1 to 3.4, respectively.
