- The introduction of a gas via a bubble stream into a melt is a novel and safe method for the study of the early stages of surface film formation without the complicating issue of exposed melt contamination in furnaces. The technique would need some improvements to be reliable at very low oxygen partial pressures.
- Characterization of the initial surface films on molten AZ91D and AM60B alloys were investigated in non-isothermally state under reactive (dry air, SF6 and HFC-134a) and non-reactive (UPH Argon) atmospheres by SEM and EDS techniques.
- Effect of Al element as a reactive surface element on oxidation and fluoridation behavior of the molten Mg alloy was studied.
- A comparatively study has been done in this research so that a rough and folded surface film morphology in Mg-Al alloy is compared to thin and fine wrinkled oxide film under dry air in molten pure Mg alloy.

Highlights
- The type of heat treatment has a significant effect on the hot flow behavior of AA6061 and AA6063 aluminum alloys.
- The heat treatment effects on the flow behavior of AA6061 are more than AA6063 alloy.
- The heat treatment effects on the thermomechanical behavior of both alloys decrease with increasing temperature.
- The type of heat treatment has a lesser effect with increasing deformation temperature.
- The work hardening rates are higher for aged aluminum alloys compared to annealed ones.
- The volume fraction of precipitations decreases with increasing deformation temperature.

Highlights
- The low velocity impact (LVI) response of pure and GFRPs containing various loading of SWCNTs was investigated using the drop-weight impact machine
- The absorbed energy of incorporated GFRP with different weight percent of SWCNT was studied.
- LS-DYNA numerical explicit finite element code was used to simulate the impact process of neat and incorporated GFRP with functionalized SWCNT.
- Experimental and numerical LVI test results were compared in the terms of maximum contact force and back-face damage area of specimens.
